5,000 Square Feet And Over 90,000 Books!!!

Gently Used Books is located in the Douglassville Shopping Center in Douglassville, PA. We're easy to find: our store is right next to Redner's Market, across the street from Ace Hardware and catty-corner from the Douglassville U.S. Post Office. We're just a few hundred yards north of Michael's Restaurant at the intersection of Routes 422 and 662 (Old Swede Road).

With the completion in February 2010 of our 2nd expansion in a little over two years, our Gently Used Books store now has 5,000 square feet and over 90,000 "gently used" books on display, including over 20,000 books for children and teens. We've got hardcover and paperback books, fiction and non-fiction, reference and romance, adventure and suspense, science fiction and humor, advice and thrillers and just about everything in between - even some current best-sellers! If you're looking for a particular book, chances are we've got it - and if not, let us know and we'll add it to our "Books Wanted" list.

As you can see from the video store tour and pictures here on our website, we're very different from what most people imagine when they think of a "used book store." You'll find that Gently Used Books is a colorful and neat and clean and brightly lit store, and our huge inventory of books is well-organized and neatly displayed - not at all the dusty and dingy and disorganized mess that you might have imagined.

We're very proud of being frequently complimented about our store's appearance and low prices, but we don't take our word for it: come in and see for yourself! If you like to read, and don't like paying high retail prices for new books, you'll love Gently Used Books - we think reading a good book is much more fun when you don't have to pay a lot for the book!

Operation Paperback - Support Our Troops!

In September 2008, Gently Used Books started collecting cash donations for "Operation Paperback" - we wanted to help Operation Paperback send paperback books to our troops stationed around the world. Because of the generous support of our customers, we have been able to send money each month to Operation Paperback.

Customers of Gently Used Books generously donated another $78 to this wonderful cause in July, bringing the new total to $526 so far this year, and $1,444 since we started collecting donations for Operation Paperback in September 2008. Wow! Our customers are doing a terrific job supporting our troops!

In July 2010, Operations Paperback sent us a list of books that had been specifically requested by a USMC unit. We had some of the books they were looking for, and we shipped them directly to the Marine unit that had requested them!

Operation Paperback has recognized our participation by officially naming Gently Used Books as a Partner! Our logo is on the very first page of their website, right under Barnes & Noble!  That's quite an honor for us, and an awesome tribute to our wonderful customers!

We were recently blessed to have a customer here in the store who was a recipient of books from Operation Paperback! He was VERY thankful for the service they provide. He told us that service personnel in Iraq "need a place to escape to when you can't escape" and the books he received from Operation Paperback provided just that. He encouraged us to "keep up the good work!"
